The Austro-Armenian Music Festival is back! We would like to thank Vienna’s mayor Dr. Michael Häupl for his patronage, our most distinguished honorary committee, and all of you who helped us make the 1st Austro-Armenian Music Festival (2009) the tremendous success it was with both the public and the media. The warm welcome with which last year’s festival was received by the Yerevan audiences motivated us, the festival’s organizers, not only to try to make this an annual event but also to take it to other regions of Armenia which have fewer opportunities of exposure than the capital city to such international cultural events.

The 2nd Austro-Armenian Music Festival, which will take place in September 2010, will present in Gyumri, Vanadzor and Yerevan a varied program of concerts and master-classes offered by outstanding professors and musicians from Austria, Armenia and Germany. This international list of artists will boast such figures as the eminent Austrian composer Iván Eröd, the brilliant German clarinetist Ralph Manno, the renowned Armenian pianist Armen Babakhanian, as well as our returning artists, the charismatic soprano/festival co-director Anna Maria Pammer, pianist/festival co-director Gottlieb Wallisch, composer/festival co-director John Sarkissian, and the stunning Aron Quartet’s violist Georg Hamann. We are looking forward to seeing you all soon!
